CKLU celebrates new downtown digs with an open house
Radio station staff getting used to "nice and bright" McEwen School of Architecture location
"We like to joke that we finally moved out of our parents' basement," Straughan said. "Now [that] we're out, we have our own place and we want to show everybody, 'Hey, we're grown up.'"
The student and community radio station relocated over the summer to accommodate Laurentian's renovations and found a willing host in the McEwen School of Architecture.
Straughan said the adjustments weren't overly difficult.
"It's nice and bright in here. We were in a pretty windowless, dark space when we were on the main campus, so a lot of people are liking that," Straughan said. "But, just losing a bit of space — we'll take the trade-off of being downtown and the great location."
The station is opening its doors to the public Monday from 12:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The public is welcome to visit and see the new facilities.
