Northern Ontario man and woman arrested following a 3-month-old baby's death
Police say they conducted a thorough investigation following the infant’s death 2 years ago
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two people from the northern Ontario community of King Kirkland in the death of a three-month-old infant in September 2022.
Police say they responded to a call from emergency services in Chamberlain Township, near Englehart, on Sept. 3, 2022, regarding a three-month-old infant with no vital signs. Paramedics brought the baby to a local hospital where the infant was pronounced dead.
Police say they conducted a thorough investigation following the baby's death, leading to arrests this week in King Kirkland— a small village just east of Kirkland Lake.
On Nov. 12 they charged a 32-year-old man with second-degree murder, criminal negligence causing death and failing to provide the necessities of life.
Police also charged a 33-year-old woman with criminal negligence causing death and failing to provide the necessities of life.
Both accused are in police custody and are scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 13.
