Andrew Olivier says he will seek the Ontario Liberal nomination for the Sudbury riding.
The seat is now vacant, after Sudbury NDP MPP Joe Cimino resigned on Thursday, citing personal and family reasons.
In the June election, Olivier lost to Cimino by 980 votes.
On Facebook, Olivier said Sudbury is facing many challenges moving forward, and having a seat at the governing party table is what’s best for the city.
He added he has yet to speak with the party about the next steps in this process.
