1 dead, 1 missing after ski boat crashes into pedal boat
A woman is dead and another person is missing after the pedal boat they were in was struck by a ski boat on Bartlett Lake, east of Parry Sound, Monday.
Provincial police report they are investigating the collision that happened on the Ryerson Township Lake shortly before 7 p.m.
After the pedal boat was struck by the ski boat, the operator of the ski boat brought the injured woman to shore, where she was transported to hospital by Parry Sound Emergency Medical Service, police said. The woman died from her injuries while travelling to hospital.
OPP said they believe there was a second person was on the pedal boat at the time of the collision who is still missing.
The North East Region Snowmobile, All-Terrain and Vessel Enforcement Team, the OPP Helicopter Unit and the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit were said to be conducting an extensive search of the lake on Tuesday.
Names of the deceased and missing person are not being released until next of kin have been notified.
