SPECIAL REPORT | Housing issues on reserves

CBC video reports from Attawapiskat and other native reserves in Canada.

A selection of CBC coverage of living conditions on native reserves

In the fall of 2011, a housing crisis in Attawapiskat, an aboriginal community on James Bay in northern Ontario, drew national attention to the grave problems many of Canada's First Nations reserves are facing.

While Attawapiskat grabbed the headlines and TV coverage, with images of residents housed in makeshift tents and shacks, other reserves face equally dire housing conditions and lack of basic services such as clean, running water and proper schools.

CBC has been sending reporters to some of these reserves to see first-hand what life is like there and has been following developments between federal and First Nations officials.

Here is a selection of the coverage.
