Slain nurse's family sues Windsor hospital
The family of a nurse in Windsor, Ont., who was stabbed to death at work is suing the hospital as well as the estate of the doctor who killed her.
Lori Dupont was killed in November at Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital by her former boyfriend, Dr. Marc Daniel. He died in hospital days after injecting himself with a lethal substance shortly after killing her.
Dupont's mother, father, sister and grandmother are suing the hospital, its administrators, Daniel's estate and his psychiatrist for $13.5 million.

The family is seeking punitive damages and damages under the Family Law Act, along with compensation for loss of care and income.
They are also pressing for a coroner's inquest into the 37-year-old's death.
Dupont and Daniel had been in a relationship, but Dupont complained the doctor harassed her when it ended. She was waiting for a court date to hear her request for a restraining order.
Hospital officials said they considered firing Daniel after Dupont told them she feared for her safety. The hospital concluded there wasn't sufficient evidence to take action.
Along with helping her prepare the paperwork for a restraining order, the hospital provided escorts to the parking lot and arranged that the ex-couple work separate shifts.
