Women complain of assault after drinks tampered with
Police in Saskatoon issue warning
Police in Saskatoon have issued a warning after two women came forward to say that they had been sexually assaulted after someone tampered with their drinks.
Both incidents took place in bars over the weekend, according to police.
"We are not trying to cause panic, but it's a good reminder for women in the city to make sure they do not leave their drinks unattended," said police spokesperson Kelsie Fraser.
Police do not think the two incidents are related.
In one case, a woman reported that she was sexually assaulted after someone tampered with her drink in a bar in 10 block of 24th Street E. in the warehouse district in north downtown.
The other alleged incident happened in a bar in the 1300 block of 8th Street E.
Police are reminding people in the city not to accept drinks from strangers, and not to leave drinks unattended.
Police also urged bar patrons to call them anytime they see anyone tampering with drinks or behaving in a suspicious manner.
The investigation into the alleged sexual assaults over the weekend is ongoing.
