The disaster in Lac-Mégantic, Que., is prompting a debate about the way we transport crude oil across the country.
Deborah Yedlin, a business columnist with the Calgary Herald, said the tragedy highlights the advantages of transporting oil through pipelines because it's safer than rail. Stephen Guilbeault, deputy director of the Quebec-based environmental organization Equiterre, said that people who say pipelines are safer are trying to simplify the issue.
