Transit lockout talks continue today in Saskatoon
The city and the union talked into the night and return to the table today
Talks to try and end the transit lockout in Saskatoon rolled into the evening on Wednesday and the two sides are expected back at the table for a fourth consecutive day.
The city is now into its third work week without buses, and the two sides remain at odds over the issues of wages and pensions.
However, a glimmer of hope remains. The Amalgamated Transit Union local 615 tweeted last night that the talks would continue this morning.
In the previous round of negotiations -- the first after the lockout began-- the conflicting parties only managed to have two days of negotiations before talks broke down.
All this is happening as the union prepares to go back in front of the Saskatchewan Labour Relations Board next week to have the lockout lifted.
City sets up new "just the facts" web page
The City of Saskatoon, meanwhile, has set up a new information page on the lockout.
A new release stated that “The City of Saskatoon wants to provide all of its citizens and visitors with honest and open information about the Transit contract negotiations.”
