Stefanie Lawton has kept one eye off the ice this year while preparing for the Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

That's because her four-month-old son, Eric, has been sitting in a car seat at the end of the sheet of ice while she practices.

Lawton has been bringing her son to practice for the past couple of months while her team — made up of Sherry Anderson, Sherri Singler and Marliese Kasner — get ready for this weekend's Canadian women's curling championship in Moose Jaw.

"It's a little bit different, but it's a lot of fun," she said.

"It's busy. That's for sure."

Lawton said her son spends most of the time at the rink sleeping. He also gives out smiles to people who stop by to talk to him.

However, despite the potential distraction, Lawton and her team's goal this weekend remains unchanged.

"We're definitely going to play relaxed and have some fun out there."
