Police nab speeder on Chief Mistawasis Bridge going 65 km/h over limit
Saskatoon police hand out $1K ticket for driving 135 km/h over newly-opened bridged
It's hasn't even been open for one week yet but Saskatoon drivers are already getting dinged for speeding over the Chief Mistawasis Bridge.
One driver was clocked going 135 km/h — the posted speed limit is 70 km/h — on Friday night, tweeted The Saskatoon Police Service traffic unit.
Stopped on the Chief Mistiwasis Bridge last night at 135 km/h in the 70. $986 fine + vehicle gome for 7-days. The driver received a fine just under $1,000 and a seven-day vehicle suspension.
In the same tweet, the SPS reported that a second driver was stopped for driving 100 km/h over the bridge. The driver then flashed a hospital ID at the attending officer and said "but I'm a doctor."
The traffic unit has reminded drivers on its Twitter account to slow down and avoid distracted driving.
