It's hasn't even been open for one week yet but Saskatoon drivers are already getting dinged for speeding over the Chief Mistawasis Bridge.

One driver was clocked going 135 km/h — the posted speed limit is 70 km/h — on Friday night, tweeted The Saskatoon Police Service traffic unit.

The driver received a fine just under $1,000 and a seven-day vehicle suspension.

In the same tweet, the SPS reported that a second driver was stopped for driving 100 km/h over the bridge. The driver then flashed a hospital ID at the attending officer and said "but I'm a doctor."

The traffic unit has reminded drivers on its Twitter account to slow down and avoid distracted driving.
