Snow machines on full blast as Mission Ridge gets ready for opening

It might be a little too cold to ski today, but it's a perfect day to make snow.

All runs expected to be operational by tomorrow

It might be a little too cold to ski today, but it's a perfect day to make snow.

Mission Ridge Winter Park, located outside of Fort Qu'appelle, Sask., will open all of its runs Saturday, Dec. 17.

While the hill was originally planning to open Friday, owners wanted to make enough snow to ensure all of the park's runs will be operational.

The hill is running its 25 snow guns all day long to get the park ready. According to Mission Ridge, it will be firing out more than 90 centimetres (36 inches of snow) out over the entire park. They'll use more than ten million gallons of water to do that.

Warm, dry weather in November frustrated the plans of many ski hills across the province.
