Smart Approaches to Marijuana Canada urges Saskatoon to close pot dispensary
Pamela McColl with Smart Approaches to Marijuana Canada says selling medical pot from a storefront is plainly illegal and there's no way the city should try and regulate it.
Glosses over health issues and sends wrong message
Pamela McColl is blunt in her assessment of a medical marijuana dispensary that opened in Saskatoon this week.
"It's a criminal offense to sell marijuana from a storefront in this country," she said in an interview.
"He'll be charged with trafficking of narcotics. He's been told that by the police already, he should not be doing that."
McColl is with Smart Approaches to Marijuana Canada. The Vancouver-based lobby group is speaking out against a medical marijuana dispensary that opened in Saskatoon this week.
She is not a fan.
Not only is it illegal, she said the 'pot lobby' underplays the health issues around marijuana and sends the wrong message to kids.
There are dozens of pot dispensaries open in Vancouver, and they're regulated by the city. She says this has more to do with local politics than the merits of marijuana.
