Man dead after shooting on private property near Biggar, Sask.
Police say victim was one of 5 people inside vehicle driven onto property
RCMP say a man has been shot dead after a confrontation on private property near Biggar, Sask., about 94 kilometres west of Saskatoon.
It happened Tuesday, around 5:30 p.m. CST in the Rural Municipality of Glenside.
According to police, a vehicle with five people inside drove onto private property. That's when the land owner, who police say did not know the individuals, allegedly confronted them.
RCMP say a verbal exchange happened as the property owner tried to get the vehicle to leave and that's when a shot was fired, striking a man in the vehicle.
By the time emergency crews arrived, the man had died from a gunshot wound.
Police looking for answers
RCMP arrested one man associated with the property. But they also arrested three people inside the vehicle, including two females and a man, as part of a related theft investigation. Police are still searching for another man.
RCMP Major Crimes is now involved and investigators are trying to answer some key questions about what led to the vehicle arriving in the yard, the circumstances of the death, and the actions that followed.
At this time, no charges have been laid.
