It's a true life story of rock 'n' rollers trying to claw their way to the top.

'The Sheepdogs: Have At It' is a film that will be screened for the first time in Saskatoon tonight at the Roxy Theatre at 8 p.m. It opens in theatres across Canada Friday.

The film follows the Saskatoon-based band from the time they appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine to the recording of their follow up album. It highlights the band's start in the city and includes cameos by their parents.

Director of the film John Barnard said it was important to the band that the film be the real deal.

"They had a pretty specific wish for this that was that it just be truthful and that we not stage things," he said. "Just kind of show them as they are."

The program Wednesday night will also feature a performance by the band and a question and answer session with the creators of the film.
