9-year-old Saskatoon girl riding scooter killed in collision with truck

Saskatoon police say the collision happened around 9 a.m. Thursday in the 600 block of 33rd Street W.

A nine-year-old girl riding a scooter was killed in Saskatoon Thursday morning in a collision with a truck, police say.

The collision happened around 9 a.m. in the 600 block of 33rd Street W., the Saskatoon Police Service said in a news release.

The girl was taken to hospital by ambulance but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

In a news release posted shortly before 1 p.m., the police service said officers were still at the scene of the collision.

Traffic restrictions are expected to remain in place through the afternoon commute. Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
