'It's scary and it's sad': Saskatoon police plane targeted by green laser
30-year-old man charged with mischief
The Saskatoon Police Service's Air Support Unit had a bit of a scare Sunday night when a green laser was pointed at the city's police plane.
The plane was out on a regular patrol when someone shone a green laser at it, temporarily blinding the pilot.
"It's scary and it's sad," read a post on the unit's Twitter account.
"Not something you want to have happen to a pilot during any stage of flight."
It’s scary and it’s sad... last night we were targeted by a person armed with a green laser capable of damaging eye sight instantly. Not something you want to have happen to a pilot during any stage of flight. Our crew were able to identify the suspect who is now in jail. pic.twitter.com/O1ZTCrcCa2

A green laser can temporarily blind pilots at night, and even cause permanent eye damage.
In a news release, police said a 30-year-old man was arrested and charged with mischief in connection to the incident.
Police were able to track the laser to a home on the 500 block of Avenue H S., where they arrested the man, the release said. The man was also charged with breaching his conditions.
The release said neither the plane's pilot nor the tactical flight officer were hurt.
