Two of the three white powder scares this week in Saskatoon involve packages sent to businesses that were targeted in a similar way in November.

Alexa Emerson is charged with mischief and uttering threats for an incident that took place on Nov. 29.

Five packages were delivered in the space of two hours to Cut Casual Steak and Tap on 21st Street, the accounting firm Ernst and Young in Saskatoon Square, Airline Hotels and Resorts' office on 4th Ave. S, the Sandman Hotel and the Comfort Inn and Suites.

This week, emergency crews were called to the Airline Hotels office and Ernst and Young.

In both instances – as with November – dangerous goods specialists determined that the suspicious powder was harmless.

Police are confirming that they're looking at possible links between the recent scares and what happened last fall. But that's all they're saying.

Brian Pfefferle (CBC)
Brian Pfefferle is Alexa Emerson's lawyer. She stands trial on the November charges in May.

"She remains out on bail in Alberta continuing to comply with her conditions," he said.

"Obviously the stuff that's going around the city is of interest to everybody, and very unusual. It seems to fit the model in terms of similar M.O. to what's being alleged the first time around in terms of the allegations against her."

Pfefferle said that police have not contacted Emerson about the latest scares, nor approached him.

"We're not sure what, if any, investigation they're doing to connect the two," he said.
