A Saskatoon teen admitted today that he used a popular cell phone messenger app to make child pornography.

The 18-year-old pleaded guilty to using Kik Messenger to victimize four underage girls. The service lets users exchange text and photos on their phones.

The teen had been in provincial court for the start of his preliminary hearing. However, he entered the guilty pleas instead.

He admitted to making and possessing child pornography. He also pleaded guilty to using the photos to threaten the victims and to sexual touching. The offenses happened between October 15, 2012 and May 1, 2013.

Defence lawyer Kevin Hill requested a pre–sentence report that will focus on the teen's risk of re-offending.

He'll be back in court Jan. 28 for sentencing arguments.
