School bus, taxi services cancelled for students in Saskatoon on Thursday
Cancellation is due to snow creating potentially unsafe driving conditions, say school boards
School bus and taxi services for Saskatoon Public Schools and Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools are cancelled for Thursday.
Both school boards say classes are on as usual at elementary schools and high schools. However the buses are not running because the challenging winter driving conditions on residential streets could put students in an unsafe situation.
The boards are asking students who rely on buses and taxis to find alternative ways to and from school, or to contact their school to let them know they won't be able to attend.
Saskatoon Transit high school special buses are expected to run, Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools said, though students should check the transit website or app for alerts.
City bus service has resumed on many routes but Saskatoon Transit said routes have been modified.
The Catholic board said the bus from Warman, Sask., to École Holy Mary Catholic School in Martensville is also cancelled. Other bus services for Martensville, Warman, Humboldt and Biggar are scheduled to run as usual.
