City crews are cleaning catch basins and priming pumps in anticipation of heavy rain expected to settle in the next 24 hours.

Jeff Jorgenson, with the City of Saskatoon, said that workers and systems are in good shape as the clouds darken.

Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for Saskatoon, forecasting between 60 and 100 millimetres by Wednesday.

Jorgenson encouraged homeowners to make sure their eavestroughs are cleaned and that downspouts drain at least two metres from the side of the house.

In the event that there is enough rain to overwhelm the storm sewer system, Jorgenson urged caution on flooded streets because the water can disguise manholes with the covers popped off, and potholes.

He said the intersections most likely to flood in heavy rain are the underpass at Circle Drive and Idywyld Drive, and the low intersection at Laurier Drive and Confederation Drive.
