A Saskatoon police officer tasered a woman who began harming herself in the city's north end Wednesday morning, according to the Saskatoon Police Service.

Patrol officers were called to the 500 block of 33rd Street West about a 33-year-old woman who was allegedly breaking the windows of a business with a rock.

"When officers approached the woman, they observed that she was in possession of numerous needles," according to a police press release.

"The woman was believed to be under the influence of an intoxicant and became combative with police. A CEW (conducted energy weapon) was unsuccessfully deployed," the release said.
