A 24-year-old Saskatoon man is facing drug trafficking charges that stemmed from police investigating a hit and run.

The police news release reads like a what-not-to-do list for prospective criminals.

If you're driving while disqualified, then don't get into a traffic accident. If you get into a traffic accident, then don't take off. If you take off, then don't do it while your sidekicks are allegedly packing cocaine, fentanyl and $2,500 cash.

All of which happened just before 5 p.m. CST on Tuesday at 3rd Street and McPherson Avenue.

Police were called to a traffic accident. They arrived to learn that a Chevrolet Trailblazer had taken off from the scene.

They spotted it a block away and pulled over the driver.

The 24-year-old passenger is facing a variety of drug possession and trafficking charges. The 24-year-old driver is charged with hit and run, and driving while disqualified. Another 19-year-old man in the Chevy was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
