Saskatoon police lay 66 firearms charges after early morning break-in
Loaded shotguns and ammo found in getaway truck, police say
Police in Saskatoon say they've already laid 66 firearms related charges after an early Friday morning break-in, and investigators say the five people charged could face more.
Police were on their way to a home in the 1200 block of Avenue L S. to respond to a reported garage break-in when they received information that the suspects had fled the in a white Ford F-150.
Officers spotted that truck in the 1500 block of Spadina Crescent W. They were able to arrest the five people inside without incident.
In that truck, police found two loaded shotguns, one of which was a sawed-off weapon, as well as ammunition.
The suspects — four men and a woman — range in age from 17 to 36, and are not from Saskatoon.
Police say the five face a total of 66 firearms related charges, as well as a number of breaches of probation.
The investigation continues, and police suggested additional charges could follow.
