Saskatoon police charge man, 21, and boy, 13, after motel raid turns up gun, drugs
Police say both suspects face more than 35 charges
The Saskatoon Police Guns and Gangs Unit reported that a 13-year-old boy is one of the suspects rounded up in a weekend raid at a west-side motel that netted drugs, cash and what police described as a loaded GSG-15 .22 semi-automatic rifle.
The raid happened Saturday after police received calls that someone had fired shots at a vehicle and had made threats on social media. Police conducted a traffic stop on the 700 block Appleby Drive and arrested a 21-year-old man.
Police find boy, 13, inside motel room
Investigators then turned their attention to the motel itself. Police said they obtained a search warrant and made their way into a room. Inside they found the second suspect, a 13-year-old boy.
Police said the room contained the loaded .22 calibre semi-automatic rifle and nine boxes of ammunition.
Police also found 359 packages of shatter, cannabis oil extract known for its brittle glass-like quality and its high level of THC. Police also seized some cocaine and more than $4,200 in cash.
The 21-year-old man and the 13-year-old boy, both from Saskatoon, are each facing charges, including possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a firearm while being prohibited from doing so and intentionally discharging a firearm.
