Saskatoon sees 1st homicide of 2017

Saskatoon police are reporting the first homicide of the year happened in the Pleasant Hill neighbourhood.

Saskatoon police are reporting the first homicide of the year happened in the Pleasant Hill neighbourhood.

Patrol cars were called to a home on the 200 block of Avenue I S. Wednesday night, just before midnight. They found a 45-year-old man who had been apparently assaulted.

The man was taken to Royal University Hospital, where he later died.

The victim's name is not being released.

In 2016, there were 10 homicides in the city.

Police say they will give more information after it becomes available.
