Saskatoon driver fined more than $1,000 for speeding in school zone, not wearing seatbelt: Police
The minimum fine for speeding in a school zone is $275
Class is back in session and one Saskatoon driver is getting an expensive lesson in school zone etiquette.
The SPS Traffic Unit tweeted on Tuesday morning that a driver was clocked going 91 km/h in a school zone and not wearing a seatbelt.
That speed is more than triple the legal limit of 30 km/h during school hours.
With both fines added up, the driver owes more than $1,000. It's $921 for the speeding ticket and $175 for the seatbelt violation.
The Traffic Unit has been reminding drivers through its Twitter account that school zone hours are back in effect from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Saskatoon.
The minimum fine for speeding in a school zone is $275.
This driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was observed at 91 km/h in the school zone this morning (keep in mind that the regular speed limit there is 50). $921 for the speed and $175 for the belt. #KeepKidsSafe pic.twitter.com/XrhbLPNiQI
