Saskatchewan Rush win 2 straight, beat Calgary 19-12 on Friday

Zack Greer scored seven goals and added two assists as the Saskatchewan Rush beat the Calgary Roughnecks 19-12 on Friday night in National Lacrosse League play out of Saskatoon.

Ben McIntosh and Robert Church had hat tricks, while Curtis Knight and Mark Matthews both struck twice for the Rush (3-1). Jeff Cornwall and Chris Corbeil also scored.

Curtis Dickson scored four goals, with Dane Dobbie adding three more for Calgary (3-3). Wesley Berg and Jeff Shattler had two goals each, with Tyler Digby rounding out the attack.

Aaron Bold made 35 saves for the win in net. Frankie Scigliano took the loss after turning aside 21-of-30 shots in 17:50. Mike Poulin made 18 saves in relief.

Saskatchewan improved its power play conversion percentage, going 5 for 7, while the Roughnecks scored twice on five opportunities.

Friday's win now leaves the Rush in first place of the league's west division, ahead of Colorado (4-2), Calgary (3-3) and Vancouver (2-3).

The Saskatchewan Rush wanted to add a Hulk fist patch to their jerseys for this weekend's game in Calgary, but the team says the National Lacrosse League will not allow it. (Chanss Lagaden/CBC)
