The Riders donated $50,000 towards the $11-million upgrade to the Gordie Howe Bowl, home to high school and junior football in the city.

Riders president Jim Hopson handed off a cheque to The Bowl Field Goal campaign chair Greg Yuel yesterday at the Saskatoon Hilltops annual Quarterback Luncheon.

Currently, the grass field is used 135 hours annually. After the installation of artificial turf, the field could be used over 1,600 hours per season.

Current Roughriders' Graig Newman and Graeme Bell played on the field with the HIlltops.
