Reece Fiddler faces 22 counts in deadly police chase that killed passenger

A Saskatoon man is now charged with dangerous driving causing death and evading police causing death after a deadly police chase Sunday.
Reece Terrance Fiddler, 20, is accused of driving the stolen truck that smashed into a fence near a high school in the city's west end. A 21-year-old passenger, Jordan Lafond, died as result of injuries sustained in the crash.
Fiddler appeared in provincial court this morning. He sat quietly in the prisoner's box, with abrasions from the crash visible on his face.
The 22-count information includes charges of possessing a weapon dangerous to the public, possessing an unauthorized firearm, possessing stolen property and breaching probation.
The probation relates to obstruction and drug possession offences from Prince Albert.
Fiddler returns to court Nov. 8.
Police chase
Police say the chase began at about 4:20 a.m. CST on Sunday when officers spotted the stolen vehicle near Ave. V S and 17th Street.
Officers knew from a stolen vehicle report that the vehicle could have a shotgun, rifle and ammunition inside.
The vehicle failed to stop for police. During the pursuit it smashed into a fence at the north side of Bethlehem High School.
Police recovered a shotgun and rifle from the scene.
Lafond was taken to hospital and died from his injuries.
The Criminal Investigation Section is continuing to piece together the sequence of events, with oversight coming from Saskatchewan Justice.
