Sask. boy wins RCMP contest to name puppies

This year's Name the Puppy Contest allowed people from all over Canada to select names for 13 RCMP puppies. (RCMP Police Dog Service Training Centre)

The RCMP have announced the winners of their national Name the Puppy Contest, and among the winners is Battleford, Sask. boy, Lucas Anthony.

Of the 16,000 entries, Anthony was one of 13 winners choosing the name Jett for one of the puppies.

Contestants had to live in Canada and be 14 years old or younger.

For multiple entries of the same name, winners were selected at random. (RCMP Police Dog Service Training Centre)

During this year's contest, all the names were required to start with the letter J.

The winning entries include the names: Jango, Jolt, Jade, Jorgia, Jade, Jix, Jett, Jax, Juno, Java, Jinx, Jazz and Jake.

The winners will each receive a certificate and a photo of the puppy they named.
