"I get what I do is crazy": Long Island Medium Theresa Caputo headed to Saskatoon
TV star scheduled to appear in Saskatoon next week
Theresa Caputo is a typical wife and mother, except for one big difference...she talks with the dead.
Caputo, who was born and raised on Long Island in Hicksville, New York, is a medium and stars in TLC's hit show Long Island Medium.
She told CBC's Radio's Saskatoon Morning she's been seeing, feeling and sensing spirits since she was four years old.
"I come from a very strong faith family, so my parents never made a big deal about it," Caputo said. "I just thought everyone was sensing and feeling what I was."
Caputo said it wasn't until she was in her twenties that she learned to communicate with the departed. She said she suffered debilitating anxiety trying to manage her ability on her own.
Her mother introduced her to a spiritual healer and teacher and she said she began to heal and come into her own.
"I consider it a real honour and privilege to be able to channel the souls of the departed."
Caputo said the spirits use signs and symbols during her readings and over time she assigned words, phrases and meanings to certain images she was shown. She said she translates those signs as best she can.
"I get what I do is crazy," Caputo said. "How can someone communicate with the dead? I get it, but I sense and feel things that nobody else would know."
Caputo is on tour with Theresa Caputo Live! The Experience, where she shares personal stories about her life and her abilities. She's scheduled to appear at SaskTel Centre June 1st.
"It's not about you believing in mediums. My goal is that you know that the things that go on around you, that you sense and feel and remind you of your loved ones, know that it's them", Caputo said. "Know that that soul bond can never and will never be broken."
