The province will not comment on the allegations of a mother whose son died while in custody, but officials confirm it's under investigation.
Province cannot comment on mother's allegations
The province is not going to comment publicly on allegations made by the mother of a teen who died while in custody.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with this mother as she grieves for her son," senior Justice communications consultant Jordan Jackle wrote in an email.
"The Ministry continues to investigate the death of this young man. The police are investigating as well."
The 17-year-old died after staff at Kilburn Hall discovered him unresponsive in his cell. Kilburn is a youth detention centre in Saskatoon.
The teen's mother claims that she repeatedly implored officials at the centre to take the young man to hospital, but that she was ignored.
The teen was eventually taken to the hospital, where he died.
