RCMP and city police will both be on the road this weekend.

Officers will be stepping up enforcement and checkstops on Highway 11 to coincide with the Roughriders regular season home opener. The Riders host Winnipeg in Regina on Saturday, June 27 at 6 p.m. CST.

"Motorists travelling between Saskatoon and Regina can expect to see an increased police presence aimed at detecting and preventing impaired as well as distracted and aggressive drivers in order to ensure that all fans get to the game and back home safely," Sgt. Patrick Barbar said in a news release.

Police will employ this strategy through the entire 2015 season.
