Food trucks approved in Saskatoon
Council in Saskatoon has approved the set of rules that will allow for food trucks in the city this summer.
Hitting the streets in June
Food trucks will be on Saskatoon streets as early as next month.
Council approved the city's first food truck policy on Tuesday, clearing the way for everything from wieners on wheels to pit stops for pizza. The decision ends months of debate.
While much of the public wanted the chance to buy food off a truck, some restaurants opposed the idea of competition rolling up and parking outside their front doors – leaving people who use the trucks to come into the eateries to use the washrooms.
There will be restrictions on how close the trucks can operate to existing restaurants.
