Residents in Saskatchewan are feeling the frigid temperatures this week.

On Thursday, Environment Canada issued an extreme cold warning for parts of northern and central Saskatchewan.

According to the weather agency, areas that include Fond-du-Lac, Saskatoon, Lloydminster and Yorkton can expect a prolonged period of very cold wind chills with values near -40 C.

The chill is expected to last through to Friday.

"I've got foam up in a bunch of places," said Saskatoon's Ryan Jones.

Out of necessity, Jones has been living in his camper van for the past two months. He didn't want to disclose to CBC why he chose to opt out of other shelter options.

He said when it gets to be this cold, he stays curled up under his blankets for most of the day to keep warm.
