City of Saskatoon lowers cost of monthly LeisureCard passes

Saskatoon residents will soon be able to swim, jog and pump some iron at city facilities for a lower price.

General drop-in admission prices to stay same until 2018

An adult LeisureCard will cost $45 per month starting September 1.

Saskatoon residents will soon be able to swim, jog and pump some iron at city facilities for a lower price.

City council voted this afternoon to reduce the cost of monthly LeisureCard passes as a way to attract more users.

Starting September 1, an adult LeisureCard will cost $45 per month, down from $75. A youth pass will cost $27 per month, which was previously $45. And a family pass will cost $90 per month, formerly $150.

Access to rinks, pools

Passes provide unlimited access to six Leisure Centres, four outdoor pools, and the Cosmo skating rink.

The pass also allows people to use the SaskTel Sports Centre's Fitness Circuit and Terry Fox Track, which has been off-limits after the Nelson Road facility was designated an evacuation stie for people escaping wildfires in the province's north.

The city also announced Thursday that the sports centre was back open for public use.

The general drop-in admission prices will be frozen at the current rates of $9.80 for adults, $5.90 for youth, and $19.60 for families, until 2018.
