Are women paying more?
It's known that women tend to pay more for services like haircuts and dry cleaning. However, Marketplace wanted to know if this is the same when it comes your everyday products like shampoo and deodorant.
The show discovered that women do end up paying more. It found that women were paying 17-140 per cent for relatively the same product -- the major difference was they were marketed to men or women. It found that women's razors were 60 per cent more, and you got one less. Also, toy prices were priced differently for boys and girls.
Gendered pricing is against the law in California and New York.
What do you think? Should there be gender-pricing laws in Saskatchewan? Have you noticed any of these price differences?
