A violent long weekend in Saskatoon has left two men dead in separate homicides.

On Sunday around 11 p.m., officers responded to a report of an injured man at Avenue B South and Spadina Crescent, near the River Landing area, according to a Monday news release.

A 43-year-old man was found with a stab wound and taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

That homicide came less than two days after another deadly incident. On Saturday at about 5 a.m. CST, police were called to a motel in the 2000 block of Avenue B North, where they found Matthew Brabant, 20, with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital by police but later died.

Tyler Wayne Pambrun, 27, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. He appeared by phone in provincial court on Monday and is scheduled to be back in court Friday.

Police are still searching for a second suspect, 26-year-old Lawrence Opikokew, who remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous. Authorities urge the public not to approach him.

Opikokew is described as six-foot-four, 190 pounds, with short black hair and brown eyes.

Police are asking anyone with information about the two incidents to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
