Sask.'s mid-year financial update includes $500-million increase in deficit forecast

The mid-year financial forecast is out and it’s not good news for the newly re-elected Saskatchewan Party. When the budget was released in the spring, the province projected a $273-million deficit. Now, according to Finance Minister Jim Reiter, that number has almost tripled to $744 million.

Saskatoon fire department has tense meeting with people behind makeshift homeless camp

Saskatoon's assistant fire chief and fire marshal sat down with the man who erected a tarped shelter on 20th street to look for a compromise. David Fineday is defying city orders by refusing to tear down the camp and burning an open fire inside the shelter. Fire officials say they understand it's a ceremonial fire and will work with him to find a new location and safer option.
