Woman dies en route to hospital after Swift Current RCMP respond to wellness check

The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team [SIRT] is investigating the death of a woman who was being transported to hospital after Swift Current RCMP had taken her into custody.

The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) is investigating the death of a woman who was being transported to hospital after Swift Current RCMP had taken her into custody.

RCMP say officers were requested to conduct a wellness check Sunday morning at an address on South Service Road in Swift Current.

Officers found an adult female, determined she required medical care and took her into custody under the Mental Health Act.

RCMP say the woman went into medical distress while being transported to the hospital and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Her family has been notified.
