Weldon Brown inks extension with the Roughriders

Linebacker Weldon Brown has signed a contract extension with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the club announced today.

The lineback has recorded over 200 tackles since joining the Riders in 2013

The Saskatchewan Roughriders is hanging on to another member of its Grey Cup winning defence. 

Linebacker Weldon Brown, who joined the club in 2013, has inked a contract extension with the green and white, the club announced Thursday morning. 

The contract will take Brown into his third year with the Riders. Financial details and the length of the contract were not released as per club policy. 

Brown was signed as a free agent by the Roughriders in February of 2013. Since then he's recorded 235 tackles, eight interceptions and seven quarterback sacks.

Last season he registered 54 of his career tackles including three tackles for a loss and two fumble recoveries.
