'We're all dissatisfied:' Riders coach frustrated as end of season nears
From optimism to frustration in less than 20 games
The Saskatchewan Roughriders play their final game of the 2015 season Sunday.
Training camp, in June, started with great optimism but the season ends this weekend on a note of frustration.
"Obviously our record isn't anywhere near where we want it to be," Bob Dyce, who became the team's coach after a mid-season round of firings led to the departure of Corey Chamblin. "I think we're all dissatisfied with that it is what it is."
The Roughriders, 2 - 15, face the Alouettes in Montreal on Sunday.
Prior to the game, following a practice Friday, some members of the club wondered what the future would bring.
"We know it's our last time as a group to fight together," Dyce said. "We've got to advantage of that [and] put everything we have into that and come out with a great performance on the weekend."
If the Riders lose on Sunday, they will end the season with a franchise record-setting total of 16 losses.
Beyond that, the Riders-Alouettes match is a nothing game as neither team will make it to the post-season.
Guard Brendon LaBatte acknowledged the game will matter for players' resume tapes.
"There's a lot of guys in there that are doing everything to put their best foot forward and get good film of themselves out there," LaBatte said. "So, whether you're playing for a job for this team or one of the other eight teams in the league, unfortunately this is what this last game is going to be about."
A perfect example of that is Keith Price, the Riders quarterback, who will get to start his first game since college.
"Anytime we're out there we're being evaluated, so this kind of like my resume," Price said, calling the game a great opportunity.
