University of Regina's Darke Hall closing for $3M facelift
Historic building to reopen in November following exterior renovations
Darke Hall at the University of Regina's College Avenue campus is closing for renovations.
The university announced Tuesday that the building will close on May 16 for an exterior update. It will reopen in November.
The refurbishment plan was revealed by the university in September. It will include roof tile replacement, an improved front facade and refurbished windows.
The current leg of the project is pegged at about $3 million. It's being funded through donations gathered as part of the College Avenue Campus Renewal Project.
The university says although the hand rails will be replaced, the accessibility of the building will not be addressed in this update.
Further down the line, an additional $1 million will go towards making the venue accessible.
