Union, SaskTel reach tentative agreement

Provincially owned SaskTel and the union representing 3,200 of its employees have reached a tentative agreement.

Provincially owned SaskTel and the union representing 3,200 of its employees have reached a tentative agreement.

It's a three-year deal that pays employees wage increases of 1.5 per cent, 2 per cent and 2 per cent, SaskTel said Thursday in a news release.

The deal is retroactive to March 21, 2010.

The proposed deal will have to be ratified by members of the Communications, Energy and Paperworker’s Union of Canada (CEP).

The percentage increase is similar to the 5.5 per cent over three years management is offering workers with the province's Crop Insurance Corp.

Those workers are on strike, but Premier Brad Wall is recalling MLAs Monday with the intention of forcing strikers to go back to work.
