2 charged in Regina with immigration fraud

Two people are facing fraud and other charges after allegedly acting as unauthorized immigration consultants in Regina, according to the Canada Border Services Agency. 

It's alleged that between 2007 and 2013 the two people gave false job-offer documents to foreign nationals. Officials claim the accused targeted people applying for permanent residency in Canada.

The two accused, ages 40 and 41, each face a total of seven charges: three from the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and four from the Criminal Code.

If convicted, the pair could be made to pay up to $100,000 in fines and could be sentenced to a maximum of 10 years in prison.

They first appeared in court on January 26. They'll be back in court on March 9.
