Crews are cleaning up following a rail car derailment west of Prince Albert.

At least six boxcars and a tanker car were involved in the derailment near Parkside, about 60 kilometres southwest of Prince Albert.

The Carlton Trail Railway operate trains on the line and transports products in the farm and forestry industries.

The derailment happened early Tuesday morning. The area had been cordoned off, but from Hwy 40, twisted rail ties and derailed cars could be seen.

Some of the cars that derailed were carrying wood pulp, CBC was told. One tanker car had "hydrogen peroxide" printed on the side.

The railway wasn't immediately available for comment.
