Spider-Man in Saskatchewan? Reddit loves Prairie humour

Spider-Man may have superpowers in New York City, but how would the superhero fare in the prairies with no tall buildings to swing from?

Jokes about Canada's flattest province become recurring theme this week on Reddit

People in Saskatchewan have always had a sense of humour.

Just ask the residents of Dog River.

But this week the province appears to have become a favourite punchline on Reddit.

An April 1 post of an animated GIF from a user named thunderbay-expat advertises a new Spider-Man movie set in Saskatchewan.

"Initial concept artwork looks promising," reads the title.

Of course, the joke becomes immediately apparent when you realize that Spidey would have no buildings to swing from on the open plains.

The post has received more than 1,500 upvotes and is one of the top-rated links from this past week in the Canada section of the popular website.

While the Canadian version pokes fun at Saskatchewan, the animation was first posted to Reddit as a Kansas joke. You can watch the original video that spawned the GIF above or here if you're on mobile.

Another one of this week's top-rated links was a photo gallery of decidedly underwhelming travel shots from a roadtrip through the province.

We brought you that story on Monday and it attracted a lot of attention. Take a trip down memory lane into the never-ending horizon here.
