Accused include 1 man, 5 teenage boys
Charges have been laid against a man and five boys — some as young as 14 — following a weekend shooting in Regina that sent two teens to hospital.
Police said three shots were fired early Sunday morning and two boys, ages 14 and 17, were injured.
It happened around 2:45 a.m. CST on the 700 block of Athol Street in the North Central neighbourhood.
The 14-year-old was treated and released from hospital, while police described the 17-year-old as in serious but stable condition on Sunday.
Police found six suspects in a home on the 700 block of Garnet Street — one block to the east — and charged them with a number of offences, including attempted murder and illegal possession of a firearm. Two guns were seized.
The accused include a man, 20, and five boys ages 17, 16, 15, 14 and 14.
All six were scheduled to make their first appearance in provincial court and youth court on Monday morning.
According to police, there has been a significant increase in shootings in Regina this year compared to 2015.
