Seeding nearly finished in Saskatchewan with 99 per cent of the crop seeded

Almost all of Saskatchewan’s crop has been seeded and that's ahead of the five year average.

Most of Saskatchewan's crop has been seeded this spring.

Ninety-nine per cent of the crop is seeded, which is higher than the five year average of 97 per cent.

The province says a higher amount of rainfall in northern areas slightly improved the moisture conditions there, while in most parts of the province are still short on moisture.

Dry weather conditions are delaying the growth of smaller seeded crops like canola and flax. The weather is also continuing to delay pasture and hay land growth.

The majority of crop damage this week came from strong winds, dry soil conditions and insects. Some producers are reseeding because of flea beetle and cutworm damage.
